Tonight I finished Seraphina's shawl! *happy dance!!*
I didn't make it nearly as long as Doni's pattern suggests, because I think this length and weight is perfect for Grandma.
I used Caron Simply Soft and an "I" hook. Because I used a smaller hook and less bulky yarn, the stitches were tighter than in the original pattern, actually making the shawl pleasantly heavy and pretty warm. I used about 2 and a half skeins...approximately 15 ounces (about 425 grams).
(Please excuse my uneven hair...either some of it is behind the shawl or I need a haircut even more than I'd thought!)
Here it is wrapped around me.
You can see the stitches in the pattern better in this pic.
Once I got past the first 12 rows or so, this pattern was a breeze and worked up really fast. I love the way it feels and looks so much, that I plan on making myself one after I'm done with my Christmas crocheting. I'd like to use something variegated or stripey for mine.
Angela, I think next time I make this, I'll be using a bigger hook like you!
Laurah, my view isn't as pretty as yours, LOL. :)

Love the shawl so cute your grandma will love it:) great job
Your shawl is so so so pretty! I love the sheen. It shows the stiches off really well. I prefer to use smaller hook sizes so I'll probably follow your lead on that. The last picture is really nice, too! Your grandma is going to love your shawl. Great job!
It's so comfy looking and pretty!
Thanks guys!!!
I love how your turned out. I guess I'll have to try a smaller hook the next time I make one.
Beautiful! I have been trying to think of something to make for my Grandma, and maybe this is it! I wonder if I can put on my SuperWoman hat and find my lightning fast crochet hooks and get one done? Now...where did I put them again? LOL
Your Grandma will LOVE it!
