Amazon now has the calendar available, so if you didn't win, you can still score it there for a good price.

Just FYI....this week is crunch time for us. We're currently painting our old apartment to leave it looking spiffy and taking care of all the last minute details. I probably won't post until after the move, as things are so crazy right now.

See you guys in about a week! Wish me luck...and sanity!

Le Sigh

The only thing that keeps me doing this....

is this...

I've tripled my caffeine intake at least. Probably more than that, if I'm going to be completely honest.

The sewing machine and yarn are all packed up (except for my travel project). With no real outlet to cope with the stress and the mess, I'm feeling....blah. I'm tired, hot, cranky, and hate living in a messy apartment.

Grrrrrrrrrr.

Crochet Pattern a Day 2010 Calendar

An awesome surprise arrived in the mail today. Its my contributor's copy of the Crochet Pattern a Day 2010 Calendar!

I mentioned recently that my Big Headed Frog had made it into the calendar, so I was expecting to see it inside the calendar, but I got a shock when I saw it on the back cover!

That man finger is not mine!
Pretty cool, eh?
Just because I'm excited, I'm going to do a small giveaway! The calendar isn't out yet, but I will buy someone a copy of it as soon as it is available for sale!
Just leave a comment, say hi or boo or whatever you want. Even if you normally just lurk, come out of hiding and say hi. I'll leave the comments open til next Friday, August 21st at midnight and then let the random generator choose a winner.
Happy Weekend! :)

One WIP down...a billion more to go

If you remember back to around Mother's Day, I had tried making the Lots of Pockets Tote for my mom, but I didn't give it to her because of the numerous mistakes I'd made. I'd bought more fabric to try again and the pieces were all cut out, waiting to be sewn.

Fast forward to August and it still hadn't been finished. Its not that I was too lazy to finish it, but I was petrified to screw up this pretty fabric. I finally said suck it up Christina...its just fabric!

Viola! All done and it came out great! The guilt of the late Mother's Day gift is gone, heehee.

I love the lining fabric!

Mom was really excited when I gave it to her. She only got to use it once though. My youngest sister Tiffani, promptly swiped it from her and has been bringing it to school. Tiff's favorite color is pink. I should have remembered and made two!

Ok Mom, I'll make you another. Just give me another 3 months, plskthx. :)

Keeping me sane.

There have been times when I can go weeks without touching a hook, a stick, or anything even remotely crafty. Usually this happens after I've made a ton of gifts, like at Christmas time. You'd think between the packing, organizing, work, and having just finished the toy drive that I would be spent and take a break for a bit.

No such luck. I've had the crazy urge to start every project that catches my eye. I'm like a stark raving mad lunatic, swatching and frogging and measuring and frogging some more.

I've started 3 projects just this past week! Those are the ones that I got correct gauge on. What the heck is wrong with me?

After our relaxing day on Saturday, we agreed to work on the bedroom closets. Knowing that most of my sewing supplies are in my bedroom closet, I pretty much went into full blown panic mode. I HAD to sew something before it was all packed up. Had to...like obsessively so.

I needed something fast, easy, and that used scraps. I decided on a pillowcase dress, in a size 24 months, based on these instructions from Nap Time Crafts.

Sorry for the washed out pic. This was bright 6:30am light.

I didn't even have enough thread in one color for both the bobbin and the top thread. So I worked with white on one side and blue on the other. Classy, I know, but I was like a crack fiend.

There are plenty of screw-ups on this one, but it came out well enough to take the edge off my need to sew. The dress went to my friend Kiki's baby girl, Andreanna. They're heading on vacation tomorrow and she happens to be a size 24 months. The bonus is that Kiki forgives all my sewing mess ups. :)

I've already swatched and started the Stellar Motif Tunic from the latest issue of Crochet Today. Somebody stop me!

Slow Day at Casa K

Sorry I've been so quiet, but I don't think you want daily updates on our packing misadventures. :)

Packing got the boot today because the weather was so pretty. We decided to just enjoy the day and relax. We headed over to Sunset Pool. I didn't bring my camera for fear of it getting stolen (because a crappy camera is better than no camera!), so no pics. But the pool was pretty empty and we had a really nice time.

We bought one of those cheapie 18" grills you can find in the supermarket so we could have real grilled burgers for dinner.

This is what happens when two people haven't grilled in years attempt to do this on their own. We got ummm...overzealous with the charcoal and it was very windy.

Kids, don't try this at home!

Step 1: Keep cute kid away from big fire.

Step 2: Beat fire into submission with foil and a stick. Don't forget to smile.

Die, fire, die!

After we had our awesome burgers, we decided to make s'mores! The chocolate didn't melt very well, but who cares? They were delicious!

I had 3 of those suckers and now I won't get on the scale until September or so. Totally worth it.

All done!

The toy parade is coming to end, at least until next year's toy drive. I busted butt to finish the last 2 toys this weekend, so the box can be mailed over tomorrow. Talk about making it just under the wire!

The Kansas Hooker posted this adorable mouse pattern this weekend. I realize the irony in crocheting a mouse, now that we're finally moving out of this mouse infested apartment., but he was too cute to pass up. Pi mentioned that his whiskers look more like a mustache...and well, I think she's right. lol

The 20th and last toy is this Frieda the Fish from Lion Brand. I've been working on this one off and on for a few weeks now. I was stumped by the "knit in the front and the back" instructions, but figured it out after a quick Google search. It doesn't look a thing like the picture, but I'm proud of myself for finishing it.

All packed up and ready to go!

Speaking of packed...we started packing this weekend. Not a fan.
