Randomness

A bunch of random type stuff...

- Piper has been having hip pain that the doc thinks is a slightly torn muscle. She's got physical therapy 2 times a week for 8 weeks.

- That will cost me $480.

- How old is old enough to walk to school alone? Pi has been asking and it has me pondering this question.

- MIL still in the hospital, but doing better. Yay!

- No biopsy results for me yet. Won't hear back til next week.

- Signs are all pointing to Spring. Birds are chirping in the morning again and its light out, both when I leave for work and when I come home from work. Who knew a little sunlight could feel so blissful?

- The Noah's Ark blanket arrived at my friend Nikki's house 4 days before she gave birth to a healthy baby boy. Glad I didn't procrastinate longer on getting to the post office.

- Lack of coffee hasn't produced any headaches or withdrawal symptoms, but it has resulted in profound forgetfulness.

- I've discovered I love Chai Tea from Dunkin Donuts.

- But I don't love the calories (330!).

- I'm knitting a baby sweater on the bus. Its purple and its purty.

- Quilting blogs have been sucking up my time. Who knew there were so many talented people out there?

- I've finished some projects, but still have to get the pictures from my memory card.

What randomness is going on in your life?

I cut out Diet Coke, about 10 months ago, because it was contributing to anxiety. I started drinking it again, a few weeks ago, once in a while, and I started getting racing heart beats. Caffeine is bad!

I hope Pi gets feeling better soon. I got pains all the time with when I was a kid and I was always told their were growing pains. Sounds like she might be growing to fast, wants to walk by herself! lol Good luck I have a 3 year old teenager!

HOw old is she? 10? And how far away is the school? I walked to school by myself when I think I was 12. It was pitch black dark too...ha ha! Gotta love AK!

P.S. I hope Pi feels better soon. It's a shame that you can't get the physical therapy covered under your medical insurance!

My son's school is about a mile and a half from my house, so it's too far for him to walk, and my daughter's school is a 20 minute drive, so I haven't had to deal with the walking to school issue.

My mother said she used to let my older (twins) brother and sister walk to kindergarten by themselves, back in 1970-something (way too young, in my opinion). The kindergarten was a few blocks from our house.

I have 5 siblings, and most of the time I'd walk to/from elementary school with them, but I also walked home by myself sometimes, at about Piper's age, and the school was a good mile from my house, past a lot of busy streets. I look at that route now, and can't imagine letting my daughter walk it, and she's 12.

As a mom now myself, that's something I struggle with too, trying to figure out how old is old enough to do certain things. I wish I had some advice for you.

I'm keeping my fingers crossed that your biopsy results come back OK, and that your mother in law continues to get better. I'm looking forward to seeing your baby sweater - maybe one day I'll get up the courage to attempt to knit a garment!

I started walking when I was in 5th grade. Dan walks sometimes by himself now (NOT my idea...), but our school is not that far and I've done sort of practice runs with him over the summer. The farmer's market is at the end of the main road, in the park, where during the school year, there is a crossing guard. I've sent him down to the farmers market by himself several times, just so that I could be ok with him going to school on his own.

I think next school year, 5th grade, will be the year he goes to school alone, and we'll talk about coming home alone as well instead of going to aftercare.

I hope Pi is feeling better...what's with our kids getting strange things the last few weeks?!?

And I'm still thinking good thoughts for your MIL and good biopsy results for you!

I let my oldest (11) walk down to the corner to get on the bus and home form the bus...it still drives me crazy...but I he insists. This school year was the first I let him. It is only about 8 houses down...

I LOVE Chai lattes, I get mine with vanilla flavor and soy-milk. (hey...just an insiders note that I learned the hard way...when you order Chai you just say, "I'd like a Chai non-fat with vanilla" or so...you don't say Chai Tea...I was corrected by a employee at Starbucks once and told that the word Chai actually means TEA...so by me saying I wanted a "Chai Tea" I was telling her I wanted a "Tea Tea" ...so after I was completely embarrassed I've never done that again.)

yes Spring was here for the last couple days too!!! But it is cloudy today and threatening rain....

I loved hearing your "randomness" most of our lives are much like yours and its always fun to hear about someones else stuff. I was allowed to walk home when I was about 12 and that was in PR. What was my mom thinking????!!!! Does she go with a group? Safety in numbers, practice runs, and safe houses along the way. Just some of my randomness.

I hope Pi's hip is better and I have you n the back of my thoughts to for your biopsy.

We're on Spring Break here....hope your is soon!
