Its Thursday already?

Damn, what a week! The last week and a half has been crazy, but I'm feeling a little better, so I can talk about it now.

Early last week, one of the doctors who works with my firm was killed in a plane crash. He flew his own planes and it nosedived when he took off. That hit us all hard...he was only 57 years old and a really nice man. Then later in the week, my FIL passed away after a long, difficult hospital stay. He'd been in the hospital since March. Please pray for the repose of their souls if you pray.

Then in the midst of all this, Pi's dad decided he was going to start major crap with me over the weekend. The situation is really making me consider going to family court to make a complaint. I haven't decided yet and its weighing heavy on my mind.

Lastly, I finally made an appt. to see my gyno. In May, I had a 22 day period, June was 17 days...and so far this month has only been 8, but the month is young. I've been really irregular for 2 years now, but the doc kept telling me I was just going through a cycle change. Last year, I insisted on having a transvaginal sonogram which came back normal, but my cycles are still whacked. After 2 years, I'm fairly certain there's got to be something more than a cycle change, so I'm going to insist on more testing. Dude, I'm only 27...its too early for problems like this!

So yeah, that's been my week in a nutshell. I went back to work yesterday after taking some bereavement days and I'm glad to be getting back to normal.

I've been working on this Haekelbeutel bag a little at a time. Instead of regular granny squares, I decided to use the Circle of Friends square after seeing someone else's bag and falling in love with the variation. I also only made 12 squares instead of 16 because 16 would have been way too large. I used an F hook and only worked through round 7 of the square pattern.

I lined it with more of that leftover maroon sheet. I actually tried taking the bag to the tailor to be lined, but the tailor told me no because it'd be too difficult! Hi and hello, you're a tailor! So I went home with more determination than ever and hand sewed the lining. It took me hours, but it was well worth it.

I've been using the bag as my work tote and I've gotten oodles of compliments on it. I think these would make some good gifts for the tote loving people in my life. Its amazing what you can fit in here!

Your bag is a work of art. I have this pattern printed out but have not started it yet...thanks for the inspiration...I can think of many squares I would love to try this pattern with. Beautiful. I hope you get the cycle thing figured out. Blessed Be

Sorry to hear about your FIL and coworker. Hope everything works out at the doctor and with Pi's Dad. MedlinePlus (http://medlineplus.gov/) is a great alternative to WebMD if you want to search for info online.
Anyway, I just love the bag! That's a nice idea to use a square pattern for the bag. I like the crochet strap, too. That is too funny about the tailor!

Big hugs, Christina. What a week you're having! I hope things smooth out soon.

I love the texture in the squares you used in your bag. As for the tailor - he was probably in awe or your handwork and feared messing it up! I think you did just fine. :)

Oh wow, that bag is gorgeous! The lining looks great too!

I'm sorry to hear you've been having such a hard time lately. Doesn't it seem like the nice people in the world always die too young, but the jerks always live to a ripe old age? I'm very sorry for the loss of your father in law, and your coworker.

I hope things get better for you with Pi's dad too. My oldest brother's ex-wife is always causing some kind of drama for him about their kids, so I understand how it can be.

P.S. I hear you about the periods -mine are extremely heavy, and always last at least two weeks, too, although strangely, they aren't irregular. I hope you're able to figure out what the problem is.

LOVE the bag! I really dig the lining.

Sorry about that DR. and your FIL...I hate it when it pours.

The bag is wonderful, but I just wanted to give you a "heads up" about using a really dark fabric
with a much lighter outer layer.
Dark reds, blues and blacks tend to
run if they are not colorfast. You
should always test a fabric in the
washer first, also run it through the dryer to preshrink it.
sign me, quilter/crocheter who learned the hard way.

Oh, that was a rough week and a half...sorry about your FIL and the doctor. Hope nothing serious with your tests...

Your bag is so lovely! I'll have to put it on my queue. Good job on the lining too!

Sorry about your FIL & your coworker.

Your bag is beautiful! I know it takes a long time to hand sew in a lining, but in the end it's worth it, right?

As for your cycles? I had been tracking my cycles for about 3 years. I've finally given up. Mine were about 2 weeks long and irregular (an average of 50-60 days in between). Tests couldn't find anything wrong, so I just live with it now. The actual period is now about a week, and the time in between varies.

The tailor said it was too hard!? That is the weirdest thing! They could have atleast tried.

You've had a crazy week for sure. I pray everyone can get through these hard times. Death is never easy to deal with.

I pray your health issue gets sorted and hope you find a solution to the situation with Pi's dad. Fathers can be such a nuisance!

Great job on your bag...I've seen the pattern and want to make it too and felt it. Thanks for reminding me of the pattern.

BTW, keep researching about your long periods. You're right to say that you are too young...investigate. My prayers are with you.
