Startitis

I've been hit with a case of startitis. Normally, I hate to have more than 2 WIP's in progress, unless one of them is a huge project that I know will take time. But lately, I keep starting things and can't seem to finish any one thing. Its not my fault, really. Patterns keep jumping out at me, screaming "START ME." What would you do in such a tempting environment?

This is the baby blanket I started for my cousin Alex and his wife Melissa. Its a little thicker than it was earlier in the week. I'm a little bored so it got put to the side for a bit.

This is how far I've gotten with my knit scarf. I frogged about 4 rows and started again. It measures about 20" now and I love the way it looks. I know I'll finish this one for sure but it just might take a while.

A baby round ripple in purple and a variegated yarn is my latest start. I had no business starting another, but these work up so fast, I couldn't help myself. I only started last night and its already 17" across. I have a feeling this one will get done first...being the instant gratification girl that I am. :)

I'm almost afraid to mention that I started the Layering Cardi from Crochet Today. I frogged it though because I just wasn't sure what size I should make it since I'm weirdly between sizes. So that one doesn't count, right?

Thanks for the tips on the removable frosted glass stuff. I'm going to head to Loews or Home Depot this weekend to pick some up. Laura, I'm about ready to petition to my landlord about a cat. Its stated in my lease we can't have pets, but I think an exception should be made, so cross your fingers.

Oh, and speaking of Loews, its nearly time to get seeds and start the spring planting! Yipee!

I really love the pattern of that second scarf!

All of the projects are so pretty! I'm amazed at how fast you crochet, and even more amazed that you're doing so well with such an elaborate scarf when you practically just learned how to knit!

It wouldn't hurt to ask your landlord about a cat. Mine didn't want any pets initially, but said OK to a cat when I asked about it. And considering that you have a mouse problem, he especially needs to let you have one.

You know if he won't agree to a cat, and still refuses to exterminate/fix holes, etc., you can put your rent in escrow with your local Housing Court, until the landlord makes the repairs.

My husband and I used to rent a house from a lazy landlord who didn't feel obligated to fix anything. Our sewer started backing up into the basement everytime we washed clothes, flushed the toliet, etc. It was horrible. The basement was a mess, and the smell would spread through the whole house when we'd turn on the air conditioning. I was pregnant with my son at the time too, and that just made matters worse. The only thing that got our landlord to fix it was threatening to put our rent in escrow with the court.

It's a shame that there's so many scummy landlords that don't want the financial benefits of owning rental properties, but don't want the burden of fixing anything. Good luck!

Ooops, I meant to say "want the financial benefits of owning rental properties, but don't want the burden of fixing anything".

Love that scarf! I've never been able to start a second project while I'm working on one unless I'm totally burnt out on the current one or just stuck with what to do next when I'm designing. This can be problematic if you've got a deadline on more than one project at a time :)

I like the pattern on your scarf, very nice! I just planted several different seeds today, and some garlic, with the help of THE Monsterling. LOL! Wow, that is another thing I miss from America. The magazines, especially the crochet ones.

You make me giggle - only two ufo's in play? I don't even know how many projects I have in some state of progress. Seriously. I swear I have ADD. It's funny too, I have that gorgeous layering cardi in the queue and I've taken the pattern out for closer inspection. It's so beautiful.

And your knit scarf looks awesome!! I'm still struggling with the ass-kicking that my Pi shawl is giving me. I still insist on knitting while half-asleep, knowing full well that I'm going to screw it up... Ah well.
