In other news, my MIL has been transferred from the hospital to a rehab nursing facility for a few weeks to get weaned off 24/7 oxygen. The facility said use of the phone is free, as long as you bring in your own phone that can be plugged into the jack. Guess what I dug out of the closet for her to use? My trusty Garfield phone! Talk about childhood memories, haha. I hope it makes her laugh too.
MIL was diagnosed with pleurisy (an infection of the lining of the lungs) and has been getting better with steroids that she's been given. They're testing her for lupus as well, but we still don't have a definitive answer on that. Hopefully, she can come home sometime in the next week or two. We're just glad that she's not very seriously ill anymore. For awhile there, it looked touch and go. Thanks for all the prayers and good thoughts.
Now I can concentrate on panicking about school!

Do his eyes open when someone calls? Hee! I love it! Glad she's feeling better!
Glad MIL is doing better! That phone is hysterical!
So good to hear you MIL is getting better - the phone ought to cheer her up every time it rings!
That's an awesome phone - I love Garfield! Isn't it crazy how hospitals charge for the use of their phone??? I had surgery on my colon, and I remember getting a statement that showed a $300 charge for use of the hospital phone, for the week I was in the hospital! WTF?! That's like what I pay for 4 or 5 months of home phone service!
I'm glad to hear your mother in law is doing better. I'll keep her in my prayers that she continues to improve, and that she doesn't have lupus.
P.S. Good luck with grad school - I know you'll do great! : )
So glad to hear your MIL is doing better. I'm sure Garfield will make her laugh and keep her smiling. You'll do just fine in school. You are smart and a hard worker ... I know that just from meeting you *here*!!!!
Oh my gosh! I forgot about that phone. I had one too!
Good luck with school!
Good luck to you about grad school. Once you get going I'm sure you'll get back in the swing of things.... At least that's what I'm telling myself because I'm going back myself and all online. Wish I could physically go to a school here so it could help me focus, but with the kids and life I can only do it online. I graduated from undergrad 13 yrs ago so I know your pain! It's been a long time for me too. I have to take 3 courses that didn't transfer before I can start the program though. I'll be studying on my own and taking the test online through Collegeboard.com/clep. But I gotta find somewhere to take the Lab class that I need. I had no idea they had online stuff like that! You know what my biggest concern is? Not having the time anymore to sew!!!!!! Oh well...
Glad to hear that your MIL is doing better. I pray that she gets stronger and will be going home soon! She oughta get a kick out of the Garfield phone.
