Back in September, my good friend Joyce drove me to Walmart to get a few things I needed for the apartment. While we were there, Pi spotted pink flannel with green frogs printed on it and it was instant love. She begged me to buy it for her and make lounge pants (she actually asked for pj pants, but with all the law about flammable/loose material for bed, we'll just call them lounge pants mmmkthx).
I've never made lounge pants before and was honestly petrified of trying. I didn't want to mess up her precious frog flannel since I don't have a car and wouldn't be back to Walmart anytime soon.
Browsing the net, I found THIS tutorial. She makes it look....easy. Looked too good to be true, but I sucked it up and dove in. After minor setbacks (having no pattern paper and resorting to brown grocery bags) and some major setbacks (sewing the entire crotch together, oopsie!), I actually made a pair of pants! The kid loves them and wants me to make her more.
Speaking of my cute kid...
This may look like any old ordinary ruler...
but on the other side, Pi wrote a sweet little note.
It says:
I know my mom
loves crocheting
so I do to. My mom
is a wonderful crocheter.
Awwwwwwwwwwww!
That almost makes up for the time she told her teacher we don't feed her. :)

Your little Pi is so sweet :) I hope Anna is into crocheting some day. She's only 4 now and has zero interest! Love the pants by the way. I may just skip buying our Christmas pjs and make my own this year thanks to you!
Awesome on the pants! and what a sweet note from your daughter!!!!
...i gotta say until i moved over here near you i would have NEVER understood how it would have taken you so much trouble to get to a Wal-Mart! ...but since i do...i totally get it! The rest of the USA has no idea...they have a Wal-Mart located on each block! I think moving here has saved me money...i used to go into WalMart every other day for items and end up buying too many impulse buys...no more now that Wal-Mart is a 35 min drive away!
PJ pants terrified me. Now, if only I had some time to make the other pairs I keep telling the kid I'm going to make him. :)
And that note from Pi? Break my heart cute. Can she marry my kid? :)
LOL! I love the *they don't feed me*!!!! Lovely note from Pi and great job on her lounge pants. I see why she fell in love with the fabric.
You did such a great job! You are a great mom.
Better go buy more fabric those damn jammie pants are addictive!!!
Love the ruler! AWWW!
How cute about the ruler! My son told his 1st grade teacher he doesn't have any crayons at home (not true - I've bought him crayons so many times I've lost count, but he always ends up losing them), and she felt bad and gave him a box to take home.
The pants are too cute too! Great job! One of these days I really want to learn how to sew.
Love the froggy pants!
