This really is a small world.
Last year, my sister became friends with a girl at her college. The girl mentioned to my sister that she looked familiar and asked if she had any sisters. Inky Binky told her that she had an older sister. They discovered that I had gone to elementary school and college with the girl's older sister. I'd gone to lots of their family parties and that's why she though Inky looked familiar. Small world, eh?
Fast forward to this year and my sister's friend was pregnant with a little girl. The baby shower was supposed to be in late June or early July, but she went into premature labor.
The Itty Bitty baby dress seemed like the perfect thing to make for a baby that small. The pattern was straightforward and even a newbie like me had no problems with it.
I'm not sure what the fabric is, but Lesa had sent it to me awhile ago to practice on. There was enough left over for a matching bib, using this pattern from Chickpea Sewing Studios.
I asked my sister when she was going to make me an aunt. Oh boy...if looks could kill....

I love it!!! Baby stuff seems like the thing to practice sewing oh huh?
So cute! What's the pattern you used for the baby dress?
Absolutely darling!
Adorable! Well done!
That is adorable! I love the fabric! I really must learn how to sew one of these days so I can sew up some cute things for my little 18 month old niece. I thought your sister had kids already, because you've shown pictures of Pi's cousins on your blog. I assumed they were your sister's kids. My youngest sister (the one who got married last year) and her husband don't want any kids, so it's the same way for me when I ask them about kids, ha, ha!
Do you think it would count if I made you an aunt? >.> <.<
Oh man, Chris, this is beautiful! Isn't making stuff for little bitty kiddies so much fun? Takes so little material, yarn, whatever... And you can take endless liberties with color, pattern and texture! And they take so little time!
