Its in the mail.

Sorry for the lack of posts lately. Things at work haven't slowed down just yet. There's been other work drama involving two-faced people, but I won't get into that further. Also, my apartment is a disaster...I wish we could move when our lease is up in September, but there's no way we can come up with 3k for fees/security to move into a new place by then. Who's got a fee free apartment for us to rent? Anyone? Bueller? It was worth a shot.

I'm physically and emotionally drained.

Anyhoo...I've been working on finishing my June charity project and swap while riding back and forth on the subway. They're all in the mail!

June's charity is a firehouse in SC that gives out firebears to children who have lost their homes due to a fire. These bears were fun to make. I wish I'd had more time to make more. The pattern can be found at freepatterns.com under the toy section.

I also worked up 3 six inch squares for Lesa'a daughter's blanket. I found the pattern on Ravelry, but can't find the link. Why didn't I put it in my que? *headdesk* As soon as I find the link, I'll put it up.

Ooh, ooh before I forget, check out my freecycle score! A lady was giving away a really old sewing machine that she barely used. Its the Singer Fashion Mate 237. She said it works great and is really sturdy. This is a great way for me to get my feet wet with sewing without making a big financial committment. I've ordered the manual from Singer and am patiently waiting (stalking the mailman) for it to arrive. I heart freecycle.

My Swap Swap Girls package also went out in the mail today. I am so excited to show you what I made! One of the patterns I found is a real gem and will be on my Christmas to-do list for sure.

Come hell or high water, I am not working OT this weekend, so this weekend is going to be totally devoted to the CRW. Hopefully I'll get a bit closer to the finish line. I like the idea Jen had for a slideshow of my progress. Once its all done, I'm going to see if I can figure that one out.

Hope you peeps are having a good week!

Okay, sorry to hear that you are still super swamped at work. Hopefully it will get better soon. Second, holy cow those fireman dogs are super cute! I just love them. Dude, I swear my mom had a singer VERY similar to that one growing up.
Very cute fire bears!

Those bears are just adorable! I'm amazed at how quickly you crochet!

Wow, $3,000 upfront to rent an apartment??? Here in the Cleveland area most landlords just want 1st month's rent and a security deposit. My husband and I had to come up with about $1,800 upfront to rent our house. Then again, things cheaper here than in NYC.

That is awesome about the sewing machine! I really, really want a sewing machine too, but it never occurred to me to look for one on Freecycle - I'll have to check that out.

I hope things get better for you at work.

P.S. Thanks for the really nice comment on my blog!

Awesome freecycle score!!

If you don't mind living in a one room apartment above a garage in NJ, then I have a place for you. :)

So sorry to hear you been way over worked. WOW NYC is really high. Hope you find something in your price range. Love the fireman dogs cute. Love the squares Christina thanks a bunch totally cant wait to add them on to Nesa's blanket. OMG now you can't say you don't know how to sew because now there isn't no reason to not learn you have a great sewing machine that is waiting for you to whip up some lovely things for yourself and Pi :) take care. Have a great weekend:)

Those bears look like a lot of work (especially the sewing and weaving in ends pats). They look so cute though and will definitely be cherished by the kids to get them. That's such a great idea for a chairity. Hope the sewing machine is treating you well!

I'm so excited for you and your new machine! I had no idea that me getting a sewing machine would lead to me discovering my Passion so I'm always excited when someone else starts sewing. I am by no means an expert but I'll definitely be here for you to ask any questions you may have. I'm still learning myself!!! I may be hitting you up with questions myself when I start learning how to crochet.
