Le Brrrr

Its COLD outside! I think it was in the 20s today and feels like the teens with the wind chill. Brrrrr.

It was a perfect day to stay indoors, but as luck would have it, I needed to venture out today. Pi has been house hopping since Christmas and I needed to pick her up in Brooklyn. The little stinker won't even be home very long because she's having a sleepover with two of her cousins in Staten Island tomorrow.

This calorimetry was finished just in time for the brrr-worthy weather. After reading through tips that others have written, I only cast on 100, rather than 120. Its a perfect fit! Its a bit wider than I expected, but that's perfect for this weather. It was made with size 9 needles (my gauge is still ridiculously tight) and a half skein of Vanna's choice.

Caption: Hubby, please take the pic already!

Knitting hasn't been a regular thing for me and I figured this vacation would be a good time to learn some more skills. With the calorimetry, I learned how to do short rows. Next up, knitting in the round!

That's one of my favorite patterns ever! I've made about five of them! Ha ha! Yours turned out great! Knitting in the round isn't that hard at all. If you can do short rows you can do round!

calorimetry ?? Not up to speed to even know what that is, but the hat looks great.

I knit in the round, though haven't done short rows, looks like something else I need to learn. lol

Happy New Year

Awesome! I'm very impressed! I've seen that pattern on Ravelry, and have been wanting to make it, but the short rows scare me, ha, ha!

Knitting in the round is easier than it looks - I'm working on a Harry Potter (tube - knitted in the round) scarf for my son (which he's been nagging about for months), and the knitting in the round isn't bad. The only thing that was a little confusing at first was figuring out how to join the round - I kept starting out knitting in rows at first (since I'm used to using circular needles for knitting back and forth).

I posted some finished knitted scarfs on Ravelry, but haven't gotten around to updating my blog yet.
